Green Collar Crew (GCC) was launched in 2008 by Scott Spivak, President of national award winning Environmental Building Solutions. Scott realized homeowners needed comprehensive solutions for lowering their high energy bills, correcting poor indoor air quality, wet or musty crawl spaces, cold or hot rooms, indoor drafts, mold, excessive dust and needed tips for environmentally responsible living. There is quickly growing need to help build or retrofit homes to be more energy efficient, healthy & safe, comfortable, durable and environmentally responsible.

- Reducing energy consumption in existing homes while increasing homeowner comfort, health and safety through our Comprehensive Home Energy & Health Audits, Consultations and Retrofitting Services.
- Helping home performance contractors, builders, remodelers and suppliers by developing a professional service network, creating a viable home performance industry in our service regions and providing building science training and green certifications.
- Helping homeowners build more energy efficient and environmentally responsible homes independently or with a builder through our Energy Star for Homes and Build-It-Green programs.
- Increasing the use of passive and active solar energy as a viable renewable energy source through our solar services.
- Increasing public awareness of our need to reduce dependency on traditional sources of energy, reduce home energy costs and improve indoor air quality through our public presentations.
Our Vision
Energy is a wonderful commodity for our communities but over-consumption is having devastating environmental effects by decreasing the quality of our air and therefore our health. It is also having devastating effects on our national and family economies by raising home energy costs and increasing our reliance on fossil fuels.
Our homes are where we spend most of our time and raise our families. Most existing homes however waste energy and are unhealthy environments. Current typical construction practices for new homes are actually increasing energy use and decreasing indoor air quality. Residential housing currently accounts for twenty percent of energy consumption in the United States and indoor air pollution can be five to thirty times greater than outdoor air pollution.
Green Collar Crew responds to these problems by helping create homes that are more energy efficient, healthy and safe, comfortable, durable and environmentally responsible. We help maintain our current standard of living with less environmental damage, improved health, lower cost and ensure a better future for our families.
