Preparing for Audit

 
Thank you for choosing one of our GCC Auditor Partners to investigate and test your home - it is an important first step.  We hope after your Audit that you will choose the Green Collar Crew to help you develop and implement a retrofitting action plan.  If you are at least considering this option, please be sure and have any decision makers concerning your home present during the Audit - or at least during the final consultation at the conclusion of your Audit. 
 
A typical Comprehensive Home Energy & Health Audit will take approximately 1.5 to 3.5 hours.  A Consultation will take approximately 1 hour.  Please review and sign the Auditor's Pre-Audit Agreement prior to your Auditor beginning her/his Audit.  Once signed, your Auditor will begin the Audit with a conversation with you to learn more of your concerns and specific information about your home.
 
Below are steps we ask you to take prior to your Audit so your Auditor can efficiently audit your home with minimal interruption to you or your family:
  • Unlock all interior and exterior doors.
  • Unlock crawl space access doors and ensure they are in working order.
  • Unlock any side attic access doors.
  • Turn off all fireplaces at least 2 hours prior to your Audit.
  • Clean fireplaces to avoid possibility of debris being blown into rooms during testing.
  • Ensure all heating and cooling supply and return registers and grills are uncovered - large furniture such as a bed with register visible underneath is acceptable.
  • Secure all interior and exterior animals - your Auditor will be opening and closing doors throughout the Audit.
  • Ensure there is room to maneuver through your crawl space and attic.
  • Gather all available utility bills for the last 12 months.
  • Develop a list and approximate dates of any major work performed on your heating, cooling or water heating systems.
