Scott Spivak

Scott Spivak serves as President and Principal Building Scientist of Green Home Solutions (GHS) and its Green Collar Crew Existing Home Division. He has 25 years experience in the residential construction and energy conservation industry and is currently leading GHS to become the premier building science, energy consulting and home performance contracting company in the Charlotte and Seattle regions.

After graduating from Auburn University in 1986 with a B.S. degree in Building Science, Scott built homes for several respected companies in the Southeast before settling in Union County, North Carolina to create and own a custom home building company. After beginning to build more energy efficient homes he recognized the tremendous value of energy efficient and green home building and decided to stop building homes to help home builders and homeowners build and retrofit homes that are more energy efficient, healthy, comfortable, durable and environmentally responsible. Scott also received a M.A. degree in Ethics and continued his studies with post graduate courses in environmental science and public policy. He regularly attends 5-10 energy and green building national and regional conferences annually to stay abreast of current technologies and more energy efficient and green construction practices.

Scott’s current community and environmental volunteer service includes sponsoring and supporting the United States Green Building Council - Charlotte Chapter, Carolinas Clean Air Coalition and The Charlotte Climate Team, a local effort to educate people in the Charlotte region about global climate change. He serves as one of the Team’s three presenters and offers an additional program outlining how homeowners can conserve energy at home and thereby help to slow global warming.
